Can my child sign up to RoosterMoney?

While RoosterMoney is for everyone, only parents can sign up. Once you’ve signed up, you can add your child to your account.

How many children can I sign up under one RoosterMoney account?

There is no limit on the number of children you can sign up under an account.

Can I add another parent to a RoosterMoney account?

You will have the opportunity to add other family members in Spring 2016! Until then, if you would like to add another parent (or gran and grandad) to the account, you can email us.

Allowance

How do I set-up or change the allowance I’m giving my child?

From your child’s dashboard, open the settings page.

Select the 'Allowance' button and you will see the details of the allowance you are currently giving your child. Here, you can set the allowance to monthly, weekly or turn it off.

How do I suspend my child’s allowance temporarily?

So, say someone happened to smash a greenhouse window, skip homework or make jokes about gran’s age… you can “Lock” their pocket money temporarily. Although apology letters work well too.

From your child's dashboard, open child settings.

Click on the 'Lock Allowance' button and you will see the lock will become red. Your child will also see this red lock on their dashboard so they understand what going on.

When you’re ready to unlock your child's allowance, repeat this process.

Boost

What is a Boost?

A boost is a one off award of money. So, a typical use may be in return for jobs, as a reward for achievements (like an awesome school report) or when grandad gives them a fiver.

We keep track of boosts and keep your kids updated on how much they have earned. They can then allocate their money towards the goals they are saving for.

How do I edit the reasons for a Boost?

On the Boost reason screen, click ‘Edit’ button in the top right of the screen.

To delete a reason, click on the ‘x’ displayed next to it.

Select ‘Done’ to save the changes.

How do I add a new reason for a Boost?

On the Boost reason screen click ‘Add new reason’. This will turn into a text field.

Type in your new reason.

When you click away from this field the reason will become selected. This new reason will be automatically saved.

Remove

What is a Remove?

A remove is a one off debit. So, if you’re out at the shops and your kids want to get a magazine, present for their friend, or something else- you can check the app, see how much pocket money they have and they can decide if they really want it. If they do, you can ‘remove’ the money and hand them the cash.

Easier for you, empowering for them.

Goals

What is a Goal?

We all have goals we need to save for in life, whether it’s a new pair of trainers or buying our own house. Our Goals feature is a great way to get kids prepared for this and really thinking about the value of money. Both parents and kids can create goals, but it’s up to kids to allocate their pocket money towards them.

How do I add a Goal?

From your child’s dashboard, click on ‘Goals’.

On your child’s goal summary card, select the ‘Add Goal’ button.

Enter the details of the goal and select ‘Create Goal’.

If your child already has six goals, the ‘Add Goal’ button will not appear. A child can have a maximum of six goals at one time.

How do I edit a Goal?

From your child’s dashboard, click on ‘Goals’.

On your child’s goal summary card, select the goal which you want to edit.

Now on your child’s goal card, click the ‘Edit’ button in the top right of the card.

Click on each field to edit the content.

To save the changes, select the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the card.

If you want to delete the goal completely, select the ‘Delete’ button at the bottom of the card.

Can I allocate money to a Goal?

Currently it is only possible for a child to allocate money to a Goal. We think the best lessons are learned when kids are in the driving seat.

If you want to allocate their money, you can always log into your child’s account with them and allocate money together.

How do I buy an item when my child has completed a goal?

Currently, we do not handle orders for items. Once you have approved your child’s goal, it is up to you to go and buy the item. This way you can find the best deals and if you do, we allow you to update the price of an item when you confirm the purchase.

The Safe

What is a The Safe?

We think everyone should squirrel away a bit of their money, so we created a default goal which encourages kids to put a portion of their savings into a saving pot. This feature is best teamed with a real Savings Account. We also have a system to keep track of any money that a child asks you to move into this account.

How do I edit The Safe?

From your child’s dashboard, click on ‘Goals’.

On your child’s goal summary card, select The Safe

Now on your child’s Safe goal card, click the ‘Edit’ button in the top right of the card.

Click on the amount to edit it.

To save the changes, select the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the card.

Can I delete The Safe?

No way, we’re about saving. You can change the amount though.

Can I allocate money to The Safe?

Like normal goals, currently it is only possible for a child to allocate money to a Goal.

We suggest that you log into your child’s account with them and allocate money together.

How do I save the money when my child has completed their Safe goal?

Currently, we do not handle the deposits. Once you have approved your child’s save down, it is up to you to go and deposit the money into your child’s savings account.

Statements

What is the Statement?

Statements are laid out like a good old bank statement, except better of course. Both parents and kids can see all their debits and credits. From Granny’s spoiling birthday present to their latest allowance, everyone knows where they are and what’s what.

How do I view my child’s statement for last month?

From your child’s dashboard, click on ‘Statements’.

On your child’s statement, click on the previous month below the child’s total money.

To return to the current month, repeat this process.

Account Settings

How do I change my email?

From your own dashboard, where you see all your children, open the settings.

Select the 'Email' button. You will see the email currently attached to your account.

Click on the email to edit it.

Make sure to save the changes you have made before leaving the page.

How do I change my password?

From your own dashboard where you see all your children, open the settings.

Select the 'Password' button.

Click on each field to edit the content. Your password needs to be 8 characters and a mixture of numbers and letters (for children it’s 4)

What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

Open the app and select ‘Login’

On the login screen, select the ‘Forgotten password?’ link. You will be taken through the steps to reset your password. We will pop you and email with reset instructions.

What do I do if my child has forgotten their password?

From your child’s dashboard, open child settings.

Select the 'Child’s Details' button. You will see you child’s details, including their password.

Click on their password and edit it to something they can remember.

How do I delete a child’s profile from my account?

From your child’s dashboard, open child settings.

Select the 'Delete Child' button. You will be asked to confirm this decision.

How do I delete my account?

Oh no - don’t go! If you're experiencing an account or device issue, please let us know so we can help resolve it for you.

From your own dashboard, open account settings.

Select the 'Delete Account' button. And that’s it. Make sure that you take note of your children’s pocket money details as when it’s gone, it’s gone.

How do I login as my child?

Useful when you want to allocate their money in goals for them. From your child’s dashboard, open child settings.

Select the ‘Login as child' button.

After you’ve finished, you can logout from your child’s dashboard and log back into your version of the app.
